Unfortunately due to time constraints I haven’t been able to pull out a ‘useful’ article this week; So instead this week i’ll point you to some great ones about!
News
First though some news from the blogosphere. This week has seem sone action in the marketplace. Two very good blogs owners have decided to throw in the towel and sell of their blogs.
The first of which being The University Kid, who put up his blog on sitepoint earlier this week and at time of writing had a bid of $4.5k by SquareLogic, A quick digg around this user will show, he recently brought Netstrife as well as a few other MMO blogs. Is he amassing an army of MMO blogs? or is it that i’ve just noticed him pick up a few? hopefully we’ll see a notice on one of his blogs.
The second blog on sale is the quickly ranking Linkersblog.com, with bidding yet to start from the $300 dollar figure it would be intesting to see how much the ‘comment kings’ site sells for.
Links
My latest article Information Superpower that sparked the creation of a new category and a random mid week post, I feel deserves a read. Sparked by Shady (XMCP) this shows a disconcerning premis. If google has so much data on all of us know what will it know later? Will it result in Artificial Omniscience as mooted by Jeff ? Or will it result in a knowledge base that could be exploited by corpration or the government under the protection of ‘national security’?
In regards of my earlier post Automated Video Sites, it received nice traffic and the sites I made continue to make income, an added boost provided by incontext links by linkxl which like it should be works automatically in the background and sells the links for any price you set.
Though the reason I bring it up again is that thanks to Aequitas it is now alot easier to get your automated video site running. Simply grab the plugin and let it rip!
Now in an earlier article ‘Buying any PayPal item for $0.01′ I highlighted the dangers of selling products online via unprotected transactions. The problem though is not just one that effect sellers, buyers also can be duped into buying useless products pawned of at places such as digital point. Rajaie talks about how you can prevent falling for such scams. Remember forwarned is forearmed.
Moving from scamming to rewarding I have discussed before Page Rank and its importance for traffic as well as the Importance of links, this fascination led me to dwell on the fact as to which type links are the best and later sparked the birth of my now ‘dead’ Do-Follow Blog List.
The argument though for linking and do-follow and no-follow is not dead. Yan puts the age old question again To Follow or Not to Follow. Again this is a preference left to each blogger, while I not believing do-following is ‘bad’ choice and that you should not ‘reward’ your commentators I feel top commentator widgets etc are a good reward and as Glowleaf suggests over at his site, Stumbling and bookamrking the people who link to you works a lot better for the both of you. This is a tact I whole heartdly agree with.
In regards to competitions in the blogosphere only one has caught my eye (it was the shiny mac) was the one over at Real Lottery Winner. The blog itself is written by ‘D’ a lottery winner who decided to chronicle his life as a lottery winner. This including random acts of kindness such as buying Christmas trees for everyone! as well as this great competition. do check it out for a chance to win a nice MacBook!
Speaking of competitions just want to congratulate Suzanne on winning the second blogging idol!
Updates
Those of you how regularly come here (not you you comment spammers!) will notice a few changes.
Firstly the ‘Top Commentator’ (it has always bugged me should it not say commenter not commentator?) widget is now present on the front page giving a nice PR4 link to all of you nice enough to comment!
Secondly the front page has changed a bit I have installed the Homepage Excerpts plugin which will result in One full post and a number of excerpts on the front page; thus displaying more of my great work
Thats a wrap!
EDIT
EID Mubarak to everyone!

Thanks for the shout, Donace. By the way, keeping the font color white on your comment area makes it rather hard to read.
Yan
NP man, and I think the comments colour being white is due to a plugin…just don’t know which yet :p
Oh my god! Linker’s blog as well! What’s up with MMO blogs these days?! Ah well, I’m sure they all have their reasons!
Oh, and thanks for the link love, Donace
Christmas is near….the only explanation I can think of!
About the “Top Commentator”, it has also bothered me ever since, but I always kept it like that so I wouldn’t ruin the creator’s brand
Fascinating links post, Donace! You have inspired me to get back into my semi-periodic routine of sharing interesting sites from around teh Web. Thanks for the linkage, btw — oh yeh, check my footer for payback!!
Sweet cheers Jeff, Yea I thought instead of whipping out another incomplete post :p I give credit to the good ones around the net I read that week.
