Free Blog Commenter

Posted on September 13th, 2009 by in Reviews

Now my Blog Comment Demon Review that I did a little while ago was received I suppose as any negative review is received. Some people said ‘I agree’ and the fan boys said ‘your an idiot’.

Though I still stand by my review; it did not work as I expected it to. However on my rounds on the interwebs I found a tool that promised the same things, had a few more functions and best of all was FREE so all of you out there could try it on without spending a dime!

So without further ado I Introduce you to Free Blog Commeter 3.0

Blog Comment Demon vs Free Blog Commenter

Now the positive things I said about BCD was:

  • It has proxy support which always nice.
  • You can ‘use’ a useragent thus making the program look like firefox.
  • Finds Blogs/Page PR accurately…
  • Multiple project / keywords support
  • Can ‘position’ internal windows to how you want.

So how does this match up with our new toy?

Well it too has:

  • Proxy Support
  • Interchangeable Useragent support
  • multiple Project support
  • Accurate PR checking

However there are a few difference; for one the PR checking seems to be a bit buggy; though that is just in the display of the PR (it displays ‘-’ in front of some numbers), and the project support requires you to save ‘.xml’ files for each project which are then loaded up. Meaning its not a selectable function as was in BCD.

The Comment Search Function

Now my biggest gripe with BCD was it was SLOOOOOOW and oh so slow it was. This in comparison is that Ferrari against your Moped. It can leave three hours later and still get to the end of the drag race before you!

The added bonus with the search function with the Free Blog Commenter is that unlike BCD it is not limited to just Do-follow/ or No-follow but can search for sites with keyword luv / comment luv and top commentator as well.

Add this to the fact that the number of keywords you can search for (up to 10 different keywords) and xxxx number of results, your potential commenting ground is HUGE.

The only ‘bottleneck’ speed wise is the PR scan of the urls; how ever as this voluntary it can be avoided.

Now with BCD one complaint I had was irrelevant search results; this however worked a lot better (i’m assuming it used an api)…so that was nice Free Blog Commenter | icon biggrin

Comment right HERE

For BCD you just selected the url and it auto filled the form from the information you had provided and off you went.

For this tool it works more or less the same; you can define multiple ‘names’, emails, urls and even comments if you want to to a quick flyby commenting spree. The added bonus being for sites that have keyword luv it automatically adds a name before your keyword. i.e. joe@keyword etc. This I thought was pretty cool.

Now most of the comments I left when testing this were instantly approved however if they were not going to be I would have really appreciated the comment tracking feature of BCD.

The Dark Side of the Moon

Now no program is perfect… but it can get close and this did however some negative points I found were:

  • Lack of comment tracking if delayed approval.
  • Program freezes under huge load (though given time it recovers).
  • No inbuilt comment profile saving mechanism relies on saving it on external xml.
  • Comment site region selection sometimes inaccurate. (though this may be a Google thing).
  • No post comment number filtering.
  • Doesn’t show multiple platforms (ie sites that are keyword and comment luv etc)
  • Some times posts are rendered blank.

Conclusion

Well this program is FREE it finds relevant Keyword/Comment Luv / Do-follow/ Top commenter urls to comment on. It is super fast so finding and commenting on say 20 sites will not take more then 30mins.

The negative points I have made with the exception of the last are just small tweaks and ‘dream’ features that would make this tool a even better one.

Would I use this in my SEO efforts? Yes
Would I recommend this? Yes very easily
Is it better then BCD? Yes, it has more functionality, it beats BCD’s flaws and is free

So I would say grab the program from their site or if you dont want to sign up to their newsletter you can Grab it from me.

4/5 A Awesome tool does what it says and just needs some polishing.

I’ll leave you with the most interesting song video I have seen for a while:

What an interesting review. I’m not at all surprised that a free product can outperform one that you’ve paid for as sometimes all you’re paying for is hype. If I had a choice I reckon I’d go for the fee version, especially after this review.

Thanks for the review…. I have no intention of leaving unrelated comments on blogs but am going to give this tool a try for finding dofollow and comment love blogs.

      Thanks for the review.

@ Sire ofc hype is always there; saying that some products hype is actually worth something and becomes ‘street cred’ however I dont think that works for software!!! but yes I urge you to check out the tool even though you dont do any SEO work on your flagship maybe your new health site can be helped a bit ;)

@ Forest ofc not Forest none of us want to leave unrelated comments; related comments work better ;) However as you know commenting is a great link building tool and I would recommend using it! however always have guidelines in place and keep certain things in mind when doing it to get ‘best bang for buck’; an example of which being here: http://www.dollarshower.com/blog-commenting-checklist-for-effective-link-building-networking/

I don’t know, you can buy software thinking that what it says on the label or on an ad will mean that it will do the job only to find out that it doesn’t. I These days I prefer the try before you buy software just so you know for sure it will do the job it’s supposed to.

Hey there, thanks for the review. This is my software and I have to say I am amazed at the reception it has gotten, I am currently at over 7k unique downloaders (not bad considering I was hoping for a few hundred lol).

I would like to address a couple of your “Dark sides” if I may (dont think Im getting at you or anything, I do this on all reviews I find to help make the product better in future):
1)Comment Tracking – as the tool is free I kinda got it to its 3rd revision and figured enough was enough. I had never had anyone mention this as a possible addition to my tool and will definitely look into a 4th revision with this included. Thanks for the tip.
2)Program Freezes – I am fully aware of loading large lists and occassionally saving extremely large lists will temporarily freeze the UI. The tool is still hard at work but the UI is frozen due to a lack of threading in these parts of the app. Its not perfect I agree, I will get this sorted in future.
3)In-built profile saving – I agree that this would be nice but I also prefer the profiles being portable so I can setup a campaign and then take the profile to another computer. I have 3 offices (including home office) so having the portability of profiles was what I saw a need for. No reason I couldn’t include inbuilt for future I guess though.
4)Region issues – I have had this brought to my attention a number of times, as the results are pulled from SEs I sadly cannot control them. I feed the SE a region and it replies with (supposedly) relevant results, my tool just delivers these to the UI. I have an idea of how to help people manually sort through them which could help but isn’t perfect. Sadly I have no real answer for this yet.
5)Post Comment Number Filtering – err. Whats this? Do you mean sort the blogs by which have the most comments and therefore more outgoing links? If so this could be interesting but maybe an outgoing link counter would be more effective as sometimes blog posts can contain large link lists. If I have the wrong meaning here gimme a slap and let me know what you did mean by it please.
6)Doesn’t show multiple platforms – again not really sure what you mean by this could you clarify please?
7)Posts rendering blank – I have noticed this occassionally and it is a bug I am aware of, sadly it will not be fixed in v3 maybe in the 4th, we will have to see though.

I hope that this comment isn’t seen as a hijack of your review, I really liked it and am chuffed you felt it worthy of a 4/5. I just like to have a chat with all reviewers as you guys have made this tool more popular than I could ever have imagined. Any further input would b egreatly appreciated.

Again thanks for the review and your time reading this long ass comment :)

Thanks for dropping by Jim! I’m not surprised that your program has got 7k+ downloads as it does what it says it will do for you!

Re: your points in reply; I’m glad the small bugs are being ironed out!!

                    in regards to my points:

                    5) It is exactly as you say; so you cna track the number of outgoing links on a post/page etc so you can see where the links may be ‘worth’ more in a purely link value sense.

                    6) Here I meant for example some sites are both Comment Luv AND keyword Luv or Dofllow or Top commenter; i.e. they have multiple benefits. At the moment I have found the software just picks up on one of those aspects and displays them.

I just thought it would be cool if it would show that Site X has keyword AND Comment Luv etc etc

Great tool though and would be interested to know if you have any others in the pipeline (or made)!

I get what you are saying about point 5, its a fair idea and not one that would take all that long to implement to be honest, that will def be a part of the next version. 6 is a valid point also that I hadn’t thought about.

The way the tool works is it searches based on certain footprints of these blog comment plugins and so any blogs it finds on those footprints are listed as using that comment plugin, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to list them and then maybe go through the pages to see if they fit the other footprints and label them as such, I haven’t heard of this being a major issue amongst my users though, I will ask around and see what others think of this idea.

I currently don’t have any tools out in the public domain other than the blog commenter as most of my work has been for specific clients and / or my own personal uses.

I do have other tool(s) in the pipeline but they are decidedly much bigger than this commenter. I am hoping for a release this year or early next year at the latest, it will be a big tool with methods of gaining lots of backlinks, content and stat checking. I will definitely send a review copy your way when its done.

I will check back here in case you or any of your readers have any questions, criticisms or ideas about the commenter.

Thanks for allowing me space in your comments section.

Donace, I’ve just revisited this post and I picked up on something I missed the last time around. You said “It is super fast so finding and commenting on say 20 sites will not take more then 30mins” which is all well and good but simple math would lead you to believe that commenting on 20 blogs in 30 mins would mean that you would spend 1.5 mins per comment. Hardly enough time to read the post let alone leave a good comment.

I know you were just pointing out how quick it worked, I just thought I would be a smart ass :D

You have a point there Sire; however you underestimate the honed skills of some speed readers out there! An average post takes me between 30sec and minute to read depending on the language complexity and other visual distractions (Legal cases / textbooks rarely have pictures and videos!) so ‘technically’ for a speed reader and an efficient typer it is wholly possible to read / digest the post and leave a useful comment ;)

I noticed one guy is claiming there to be a trojan with the file. I can 100% guarantee there is no trojan, no virus or anything in any version that has ever been downloaded from my website. I have not updated the .exe in many months now and no virus scanner has picked it up as having any sort of virus signature.

I don’t know why anyone would claim it had a virus but meh. Thanks for enjoying it guys.

an interesting question. Short answer no there is no negative impact as long as you don’t spam and keep the comments genuine and adhere to comment policies should they exist on the site.

Long(er) answer: maybe, there is speculation that purely targeted (undiluted) links to your site with only targeted keywords can have an adverse effect on ranking as it looks unnatural. Now I personally have not seen this but neither have I monitored this closely.

So I would recommend using some other keywords / unrelated keywords to make a more natural profile.

Point 2 being the phasing in on ‘weighted’ links, or links form relevant websites. Theory states (and some results) that links form related sites are ‘weighted’ better then non-related sites so there is a possible slight -ve impact if your backlink sources are out of niche a lot
