Domain Samurai Review

Domain Samurai is the more recent addition to the Noble Samurai suite of tools; (the other being Market Samurai Tutorial Here). Its main aim is to help you find that magic domain name.

Why are Domain Names Important?

As I explained in my tutorial Exact Match domain names especially in a Niche Site context are invaluable.

A example I came across which shows how much effect a exact match domain name really has. In this example a NEW site with NO backlinks with a NICHE keyword started to get traffic on the basis of the weight of the domain name alone.

Why is this you ask? well have a look at how I linked the above site, the Anchor text will help that site with that keyphrase in the search engines. Now you may think “yea I knew that anchor texts = vital”. (More Vital Link Attributes)

Therein was or IS the issue, Anchor texts were open to be abused.

As Google started getting more aggressive at filtering anchor text, they started placing more weight on the domain name if the domain name exactly matched the keyword search query. They had to do this because they were filtering out too many brands for the search query attached to their brand.

So a domain name with your keyword is a vital part of your SEO strategy and that’s where Domain Samurai comes in, but more on its inner workings a bit later.

Vitals of an Aged Domain

Now that we have established Domain Names are a key part of your niche site, how can Aged Domains  help you any further?

An aged Domain has some SEO advantages the big two being AUTHORITY and PAGERANK!

Yes i’ve mooted before that PR does not = Authority and Authority doesn’t mean high PR or even sometimes high rankings.

HOWEVER with a niche site, domination of your keyword is the goal and those two are your big Quarterbacks along with aged incoming links which will be pointing to the Aged Domain Name giving you that extra little (more significant then little -ed) boost, this especially being MORE vital if your competition has Domain Names that are slightly older (the newer ones will get creamed).

That is where Domain Samurai comes in, it ties in with DomainFace and enables you to search for that needle in a haystack. To get that Domain Name with Age/PR/Authority and Links that will provide your site with the HUGE SEO advantage your bank account wants!

Domain Samurai – The Vitals

Now i’ve been “talking” for a while why Domain Names are important and touched upon what type of links are best but haven’t told you what Domain Samurai (incidentally also a free module in Market Samurai) actually features, so here’s the run down:

Search and filter over 20 TLD’s

  • .com
  • .org
  • .net
  • .tv
  • .info
  • .me
  • .biz
  • .us
  • .mobi
  • .ws
  • .ca
  • .de
  • .eu
  • .co.uk
  • .org.uk
  • .me.uk
  • .nu
  • .cc
  • .in
  • .com.au

Filter aged domains by domain age, page rank, backlinks, and indexed pages
Can open your existing Market Samurai project files and check for available domains using your existing keyword research.

Note to search for aged domains you need to sign up to DomainFace, fairly straight forward but a video helps:

Sometimes pictures are better then words and so a video must be MUCH better:
How to Install Domain Samurai

Intro to Domain Samurai

What Domain Names to target?

OK hopefully by now i’ve established:

  1. Keyword Domain Names = Good
  2. Keyword AGED Domain names = GOLD
  3. Domain Samurai = Awesome (go grab it now its FREE!)
  4. You know how to use Domain Samurai because you watched the video above (right?)

With that set I would quickly point you to the old Market Samurai Tutorial and point out that while Domain Samurai is FREE the Domain and Keyword modules in Market Samurai are  also free and for this part; having Market Samurai will makes things more efficient as we can do competition domain checks quickly (Paid and Initial Trial Version Only).

SO back to the story at hand; you now have MS or DS and have a nice Niche picked out; question is what keyword do you target for your domain name?

At the time of writing the earlier tutorial my chose keyword ‘mafia wars collections’ was getting 95 searches per day while ‘mafia wars’ was getting 8000+.

So when searching for a domain name a ‘root’ keyword would be more useful to have. mafiawars.com would be more beneficial the mafiawarscollections.com as:

  1. the root gets more searches
  2. you see that list of keywords we got earlier we could expand to them ALL.

Another reason we should keep that keyword list handy is that once we have started to filter the domain names with PR etc we might find a more valuable longtail domain name which we previously disregarded from our selection due to tough competition.

Closing words

Domain Samurai is a VERY useful tool to have as part of your toolbox and it being FREE makes it a MUST HAVE.

I have touted the benefits of a good domain for the past 700 or so words and while hopefully i’ve made my point on the vitality of domain names; I also would like to point out CONTENT also matters.

You may find a shizer site no1 with exact key phrase domain name but a rival site with out such a domain but with GOOD CONTENT can beat it in the serps. It may be a slight challenge initially but content will garner links and get you to the top!

“Big will not beat small anymore. It will be the fast beating the slow.” – Rupert Murdoch

So BEAT the competition and find that great domain name by grabbing Domain Samurai OR Market Samurai for both the FREE keyword AND Domain Name Module…NOW!

Great review! I currently use Market Samurai as well (an incredibly awesome tool by the way), but I must admit that I haven’t played around with the domain feature much. I didn’t even know that you could get the domain feature for free separately.

      Thanks for enlightening me!

Glad it was of use to you, I highly recommend using the domain module in MS, it SHOULD be THE most important aspect of your SEO Strategy for a new site. Esp. if it is a Micro Niche / Niche site
