Blog Comment Demon, spawn of Satan or Pee Wee Herman?
The Sales Pitch
We all know that links have to be diverse for your site to rank well and maintain its position in the SERPS. Blog commenting is one such link building tactic that ‘to quote’ does the following:
Now I don’t dispute the benefits of do-follow blog commenting, and anything that makes thing that makes this easier is great!
With Blog Comment Demon, it has never been easier for you to find one-way quality related links to your sites. You can start getting your sites indexed faster and gain higher search engine rankings in the long run! Start increasing your Adsense income, affiliate commissions and sell more products!
It sounds brilliant !!
Does Blog Comment Demon Deliver?
Well when I saw the landing page at first I though wow this can help me find niche related sites where I can comment. This as well as giving me a nice do-follow link the links would be ‘relevant’, which as I have mentioned in Link Power – How to get the best links is a factor that is to be considered.
So lets see …did it Blog Comment Demon deliver on its promises?
Search Function
The Premise was simple pick a keyword and language and it would go and search for blog related to that keyword.
Unfortunately this search took ages, the blogs it found out of 4 different tests with different keywords 80% were unrelated to the keyword.
Further you could not ‘comment’ on the blogs until the search had completed which took anywhere between 30mins and 1hr (I cancelled the search then).
Blog Comment Demon Filtering
Now being a guy who likes things done quickly and most bang with buck I tweaked these settings here to try and get the best blogs to comment to.
Do Follow Filtering
Unfortunately this was not very accurate; it got confused a lot especially on
blogs that had a do-follow link back to the post in the comment section (numbering system etc.).
So the PR5 do-follow link that had be shouting and screaming at how great this program was…it wasn’t do-follow.
Comment Number Filtering
Now with the above issue I noticed that its ‘accuracy’ was better with blogs that already had comments. So I click
ed the function saying filter blogs with no comments and let it rip.
Unfortunately this has yet to learn how to count. A quick comparison between two searches on the same keyword showed that, a number of blogs WITH comments were filtered out and some blogs with NO comments were in the list.
Thus meaning this function was not working.
Auto Form Filler
I spend AAAAAGES typing the same information so this function (if the right blogs were found) would be awesome! HOWEVER one a few blogs I tested it on, it missed out either the ‘name’ or ‘url’ field. Plus this function can be done for free using a simple Firefox Plugin so this is kinda redundant without it finding the right blogs.
The Positive
Now I have been picking the negative a bit so some positive points…. give me a min…
- It has proxy support which always nice.
- You can ‘use’ a useragent thus making the program look like firefox.
- Finds Blogs/Page PR accurately…
- Multiple project / keywords support
- Can ‘position’ internal windows to how you want.
Conclusion
The premise for this program is brilliant, the functions make logical sense.
However it does not do what it in my mind it was built to do, which is to accurately find related blogs that are do-follow.
Yes this program has potential when it is fixed; until then its ‘potential’ is like a chimp in the wild, they may one day evolve and enslave the human race but right now its slinging crap and happy doing so. We have to wait and see if it evolves…then we shall pay notice.

Yea its sad to see the potential wasted…and np thanks for dropping by!
I had also played with BMD a little bit and didnt really like it (back in v1.0). It sad to see potential wasted. Maybe I just didn’t use it right who knows? but I didn’t like it.
I have been using bookmarking daemon 5 for some time. Dont know about version 1.0, but now it is very well thought and highly automated. Missed a few features (like pause submission process and some more).
Like it very much.
ofc there are enough people building hype for this so hopefully people will see the review (think i’m no 1 for it) and make their own balanced view whether they wish to fork out $50 for it or not.
I’ll be tackling another review on ‘Market Samurai’ soon another ‘hyped up’ product…lets see if its worth the $150 price tag.
I actually like Bookmarking Demon… As long as you use it as a genuine bookmarking tool and not a spamming tool then it can help build some links over time.
When I used it back at Version 1; yes some parts were good but overall it was faster to manually do it
got a refund and haven’t used it since.
I then moved to Senuke which had some brilliant features but the high monthly price didn’t justify it enough imho.
Lately I have been using Traffic Android and that is working ‘well’ and just waiting on TA3.0 which promises to be VERY sweet…
End of the day there is always a element of spamming in these tools; I mean sure you bookmark your sites posts…you then bookmark your mates sites posts which you enjoyed reading…then you do it for your niche site….then your affiliate site…then the dogs homepage…out of those arguably only 1 of those is ‘any good’.
This is very very true…..
lol but lets not get bogged down in ethics of these tools and watch a bit of Herman and just say ‘Tequila!’
Very nicely written review, and with pictures no less. I hadn’t heard of it before, but it did seem like it might have been somewhat interesting, if it worked.
Hey Mitch thanks for the compliment; I usually throw an image or two in now as it keeps me entertained long enough to fin writing a decent post; as well as the inherent SEO benefit.
But yes if it had worked as anticipated it would have been a sweet deal indeed.
I love blog commenting in my spare time, but I am almost certain that in the near future Google is going to catch on to people manipulating it and they’ll go the way of the metatag. I wouldn’t pay for help with it.
That’s just theory though.
indeed with better / more progress with semantic search engine etc a lot of the link building efforts we use will be reduced in value.
Only time will tell.
In regards of paying though; I would and did pay for it because its possible benefits where brilliant, letting you find certain blogs and get links back to your site. It’s just a shame it didn’t live up to my expectations.
I do blog commenting regularly and have a collection of blogfindingtools. Just bought blog comment demon and it is by far the best blogfinder out there. I use this demon with fbf for my blog commenting needs. I can’t find the issues that you mentioned in your post, maybe I’m using the latest fixed version. I will look at traffic android tomorrow but its monthly fee doesn’t justify it. Simply hate tools with monthly fees, just my 2 cents.
Hey Peter thanks for dropping by.
I was using the latest version of Blog Comment Demon and those were the issue I encountered, (this was last week I brought it and tested it out). However if it works fine for you without the issues mentioned above great. It may be because my needs were especially tailored to niche sites…who knows.
For Traffic Android I suggest you hold out till version 3 comes out and then have a go; it promises to be a more ‘complete’ version which will be a one off purchase as opposed to monthly (i’m assuming) as it’s being ported back to desktop based.
i am contemplating on whether i should get blogcommentdemon. i thought the ability to check if comments have been approved is sweet, they claim that only blogcommentdemon has this feature. is it true? i heard that there is a recent update a few days back to blogcommentdemon. they added a drilling feature. have you check that out? does this new update make it better?
Hey Freddy; Yea I heard about the approval checking but I didn’t have time to use it as I got pretty frustrated with its flaws before then!
In regards to the ‘drilling’ feature; i’m assuming you are talking about the ability to ‘drill’ or search the current blog for more posts on the subject. Yes I did try that and it had a slightly better ‘success’ rate but as the initial blog was not do-follow it kinda was a moot point for me.
Though by all means Freddy check out the software and if you don’t like it grab the refund. Took me only a few hours between asking and receiving the refund. So Give Blog Comment Demon a go; if you like it great if you dont no harm done…either way drop by again and let us know what you thought of it.
what you have mentioned is just the old depth search feature. the drill or drilling feature has only being added this week. used it for a month and loved it. I will wait for trafficandroid v3, tried the current version at $1 trial and it doesn’t look impressive at all. its just too weak for my liking.
Odd I didnt come across the feature earlier this week; but hey if you liked it great! In regards to TA; in comparison to other similar programs I found while the sites are slightly more limited, but it had a much higher success rate. Though yes hold out to TA 3.0 for the more bang for buck.
Thanks again for dropping by and sharing your thoughts a balanced review page is always great.
Bookmarking Demon was pretty good. It seems like bookmarking is kinda loosing it’s edge, but I would recommend it for short term use though. Nice review on it!
Really awesome review and post!!!
I recently purchased this. I’m extremely pleased with this piece of software. Oddly, I’m having trouble with the proxy feature?? But, I’m not having a problem finding dofollow links as you are.
I think dofollow and nofollow links are important, but posting on nofollow links still helps in the big picture. How much.. I really don’t know, but I do see plenty of traffic from nofollow links as well as seeing rank increase in some niches where I posted on no dofollow sites?
Nice review there! I also wrote a review about Blog Comment Demon recently as well!

hanji
@ Hanji; Glad you like it man; the issue was when I was testing it supposedly found ‘do-follow’ links, but when I actually went to the webpage to verify whether it was or not as I mentioned above it was not a lot of the times (think I fund 1 out of a few hundred supposed ones).
In regards to no-follow I agree no-follow links are also useful to have, and as mentioned by Jeff in Dealing with Google’s New Nofollow Policy . It is once place we have to keep an eye on.
Though glad you enjoyed the review, will keep your link here so to provide a balanced opinion.
I personally like the product and use it on a daily basis. Is it perfect? No, but neither is anything else on the market. However, it works better than anything else I have found.
Your analogy, and your spelling, makes me wonder if you have the competence to evaluate any product:
QUOTE: ” its ‘potential’ is like a chimp in the wild, they may one day evolve and ensalve the human race but right now its slinging crap and happy doing so. We have to wait and see if it evolves…then we shall pay notice.
I hope your have a real job…
You hit it on the head straight away Bruce ‘personally’;
I personally did not like it; however if you read through some of the comments given by others they did. It’s about what you went in expecting and what it gave you. Maybe I expected to much from it; maybe I expected it to do what it was never meant to do. Who knows.
All I know I did not overly like it when I trialled it. If you use it every day that’s great; feel free to email me your version of the review and I’ll amend the post with it. After all a review with both extremes taken into account is better.
Thank you for pointing out the spelling mistakes; Just gone back and corrected the three that were there! In regards to the analogy I personally liked it.
I also hope you have a day job Bruce!
I’ve been thinking about buying Blog Comment Demon for a while, after reading your review I’m not so sure if I should buy it or not. I’m looking for a way to find related blogs to comment, and a way to organize them.
I’m also looking for a way to check back to see if my comments have been commented, since I enjoy conversations on blogs. Not sure if Blog Comment Demon will do this or not.
Thanks for a great review.

Hey Jens thanks for dropping by; the great thing about BCD is that it has a 28 day (I think) return policy if you dont like it. Since I have done the review it has gone through a number of fixes; So I would suggest to give it a go; and if you dont like Blog Comment Demon return it for a refund and if you do..whey hey a new powerful tool for your arsenal. Either way let me know how you find it
Thanks for your advice. I’ve been searching for a similar software since I left the comment, and it seems that Blog Comment Demon is the best of this type of software – at least from the reviews I found. I’ll let you know what I think.
Thanks for the honest review of Blog Comment Demon. I was tempted to buy BCD, but after reading your review I am going to put it on the back burner. It is still a contender, but there are still a few other programs to look at. Any suggestions?
I would suggest you try out the program Free Blog Commenter ; which I have discovered recently, it is essentially the same principle as BCD but free!
Thanks for the review I was wondering if this was worth purchasing… Any other suggestions?
Hey; I would suggest you check out the free blog commenter; its essentially the same (if not better) and free!
it is an amazing software, many people had great results with it
its good to know some people have had good results with it. I personally have had better results with free blog commenter
Hey Donace, any chance you could host a copy of the Free Blog Commenter on your site?
Their website appears to be down
nevermind, just saw the link. just woke up and the coffee didn’t kick in yet
Absolutly true it does not find related blogs at all! I bought the software after buying it I was using it and not finding any related blog for my keyword… After trying many times I tought Hmm I must be doing something wrong, so I searched the web for reviews of the software and found your blog. I should have searched for reviews first!
I’ve made it a second nature now to search for reviews before buying any software; though then again you rarely see positive reviews on a software as only the complainers complain!!! So you still have to take a wild shot now and again!
Though thanks for dropping by Jay and as I have recommended above check out the free blog commenter.
Honest and good review!
I checked out the selling site for this tool before I came here and like you, I really do like the specs. It sounds exactly like the kind of tool you would like to have for this purpose. However, after reading your review I am turned off and don´t even find it worth a try as I will have to pay upfront and ask for a refund. Too much of a hazzle as I expect NOT to like it in the first place.
Well, well.. I have tried a program that is simpler in terms of specs but do work quite ok though in “Fast Blog Finder”. I found it via Catswhocode who wrote a general review on DoFollow and commenting blogs and since he recommended it, I checked it out:
http://www.catswhoblog.com/promote-your-blog-250-links-to-get-free-backlinks
I have downloaded the free version of the program (limited to 50 hits in the search results), but that´s ok for evaluation. So far, I think it is “pretty good” but not “amazing” so that is why I am checking out alternatives now before making any purchase decision on it. The search is quick for me though, but it´s a drawback it only works on PC.
If you have time, check it out.
Hey Lars; thanks for dropping by. I did actually try Fast Blog Finder a little while back when it was first emerging on the scene and was presently surprised by it. Though As I have mentioned above Free Blog Commenter is my app of choice at the moment as it gets the job done and has some nice fancy specs.
Also thanks for the link to catswhocode, that post did get to me via my rss but I didnt have time to fully review it.
Cheers
i have used free blog commenter but it is def not my commenter of choice… blog comment demon is…. the thing is though blog comment demon is 100% worthless if you dont know what your doing…. for example if your getting 50 do follow blogs with 0 comments and 50 no follow and 500 unknown your doing it wrong… but if u do the same search right you could get 450 do follow 300 nofollow and 50 unknown it just takes practice GL!
I haven’t had a chance to use BCD yet (which is why I’m here checking reviews), but I’ve got experience with BMD, and after working through some of the nuances with BMD it works well. I would assume that the same can be said for BCD.
Will give it a shot and see how the latest version compares to your review.
Thanks for taking the time to post this article.
Hey Chris; thanks for dropping by. Since this review it has gone through a number of updates. I haven’t had the time to pick it up again to give it a whirl. So your feedback on it would be appreciated once you have the chance.
Cheers
Don
Please tell me, I have an issue about BCD. When I do blog commenting in wordpress there is no effect when I click the submit button. But If I do blog commenting such as b2evolution, blog engine, nucleus CMS.There is no problem. What should I do? Is there anything I can set the preferences?
best regards,
Clifford
Hey Clifford, I haven’t used it since the first version. I suggest you check out the support forums for help on this.
Okay Donace. Thanks anyway. I will try to visit. Do you have any sites for support forums?
thanks,
Clifford

Than you so much donace. Very helpful. More Power!!!
Thanks for the review. I had already purchased and been using Blog Comment Demon for 7 days when I found your post. The reason I found your post is because I was doing research to find out why Blog Comment Demon sucked so bad for me. I assumed it MUST be because I don’t know how to use it. However, it’s pretty simple. We’ve been testing it in a variety of different niches using different keywords. I’ve found the following serious flaws:
1.) Drill Feature works 10% of the time or less
2.) Auto Fill feature constantly leaves out the name, url, email address, etc.
3.) Too many Unknown tags that can’t be drilled
4.) Auto Fill often does not work and you must go into the blog itself and cut and paste from your autofill
5.) Filtering for Do Follow only often yields no results
6.) Blogs returned are often completely unrelated to keyword
7.) Searching for blogs takes a very long time before you can even tell if there are ANY good results
So far BCD seems to waste a lot of time, and we have been very thorough in our use of it. It can be used successfully if you have patience and understand that ultimately you’ll do more by hand than this software supposedly automates. The two best things about the software are:
1.) The ability to scan for approved comments
2.) The ability to manage numerous products
I’m not if I can continue to use this software or not. I haven’t given up yet but so far it does not look good.
Thanks for dropping by Russell and adding your input. After playing around with commenting software and the such I have found that when working on a Niche site (not a main one where I want a ‘audience’) its easier to outsource it.
Yes the cost may seem higher BUT you are getting guaranteed dofollow comments in niches related to yours, with all details verified etc. Downside being possibly poor English, but really we’re after the related links arn’t we?
I am looking for BCD. I will buy soon, please tell me is it really useful?
